Responsibilities

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Component Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location.

 

We are seeking a Component Engineer to join our team at PeopleTec. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, both in laboratory and advanced manufacturing environments, challenging you to learn and grow in your career. Collaborating with designers, test engineers, and manufacturing experts, you will apply your education, experience, and expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technologies designed to thrive in rugged military environments. You will work with a team to mature these technologies to production for high-reliability DoD applications.

 

Duties:

  • Participate in Electronic Components Engineering technical assignments related to hardware development, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Evaluate Electrical/Electronic/Electromechanical (EEE) parts and materials, including integrated circuits, passive components, hybrids, epoxies, adhesives, and other electronics packaging materials.
  • Work with a team to design component improvements for manufacturing and reliability.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, develop specifications, evaluate suppliers, and analyze test reports.
  • Develop processes for screening, qualification testing, and other MIL-STD testing requirements.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
  • Develop, test, and evaluate new and innovative technology solutions for survival in DoD-relevant hostile environments.

Qualifications

 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5-10 years of professional experience
  • Electrical component engineering experience in an aerospace environment
  • Experience with microelectronics packaging and materials for military and aerospace environments
  • Experience establishing processes for high reliability microelectronics handling, storage, manufacturing, screening, and qualification
  • Electronic Component Engineering experience with hardware development, manufacturing, testing, screening, and qualification
  • Familiarity with MILSTD 810 and 883
  • Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements
  • Experience participating in major DoD program milestone reviews
  • Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications
  • Non-conformance and failure analysis disposition experience
  • Travel: 10 %
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Final SECRET (or higher) clearance valid within 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Vetting (CV) - an active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates must have an active SECRET clearance upon hire, with the ability to be nominated for and granted access to additional programs, and must maintain this level of clearance throughout their employment

Education Requirements:

  •  Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) discipline 

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with the selection and application of EEEE components in systems design
  • Working knowledge of various NASA & Military performance documents for component selection
  • Experience working with advanced microelectronics packaging materials and technologies
  • Experience with Destructive Physical Analysis, Failure Analysis, Root Cause & Corrective Action, and related processes.
  • Analysis experience in the areas of stress derating, circuit and tolerance, reliability, failure rate estimation, solder joint reliability, etc.
  • Experience in parts, materials, and process selection, manufacturing support, and failure analysis for space hardware.
  • DOD Top Secret clearance or SCI access (preferred)
  • Experience with quality management system certification and auditing process
  • Experience with Missile Defense Agency’s Parts, Materials, and Processes Mission Assurance Plan (PMAP)
  • Experience with supply chain risk management (SCRM) and inspection processes
